Public Relations Specialist (3-month term, full-time local position)
We’re looking for a public relations specialist for a short-term, three-month gig to help support our public relations team at KPS3.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a public relations specialist for a short-term, three-month gig to help support our public relations team at KPS3. In this role, you’ll develop public relations materials and reports that align with clients’ strategies and goals. You’ll work closely with the PR team to produce high-quality deliverables that are engaging, well-researched and informative. Candidates must be local to the Reno-Tahoe-Carson area.
You’ll take on projects that span a variety of client industries and require collaboration with other KPS3 divisions. A typical week may include researching media and influencers, writing a press release and incorporating feedback, participating in an internal meeting to collaborate on an upcoming client announcement, working with account teammates to prioritize deadlines, or developing a public relations report to show off our awesome results. We’re a nimble team, and the right fit will be someone who can remain agile, stay organized and execute projects with consistency and polish.
Pending business needs and employee performance, an opportunity to extend a contract or offer a full-time position is on the table. (And it’s what we’d prefer, really!)
Skills We're Looking For:
- Ability to write clearly and persuasively
- Manage priorities and projects effectively
- Develop media lists, monitor news mentions, write PR materials, compile research and reports that support clients’ PR strategies and goals
- Work collaboratively with KPS3 team members across divisions: public relations, creative and social media, account
- Employ critical thinking, ask questions, anticipate needs
- Stay organized, keep things moving, and know when to ask for help
- Communicate workload and priorities with teammates
We’ll be honest: KPS3 moves fast, and we’re looking for a supportive teammate to add to our roster to fill a gap. Our ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, communicative, and agile environment.
What to Expect:
When you provide your application, we also require that you include your best 1-2 samples of work––a press release, an event plan, a blog post or a research document. Share what you’d want mom to display on the fridge. If your application and style feel like a good match, you’ll be invited to participate in our interview process:
- Initial interview
- 1-2 rounds of conversations with folks from the PR and account teams
Please bring your questions, your work and your quirks. We’ll bring ours, too.
Perks, notes, and other company stuff:
- We don't work on old computers or have old software. And you’ll get a laptop to use during your time at KPS3.
- Flexibility: We ask a lot from everyone here, so it's fair to ask us for some back.
- Hybrid atmosphere: work from home, work from the office, or wherever you feel most productive.
- You’ll have 24/7 access to our onsite fitness room.
- You’ll have 24/7 access to Skillshare to brush up or beef up on any skills you have (or want).
- Unlimited snacks and drinks when you’re working in-office.
- Dogs and cats are welcome, assuming they’re friendly and well-trained.
- ... Just to name a few
